November 2019 - Gratitude for What Is
THIS IS IT.
Your life in this moment is all that is real.
All the good and bad that came before is over and gone. Your past experiences have shaped you, but what occurred then needn't define you today.
The theoretical future of "I'll be happy when..." doesn't exist. When you arrive at this conditional destination, you will still feel unsatisfied and seek the next "when."
This is it. Now is the time to look around and see all that is good and have gratitude for what is. Could circumstances be better? Of course. We are evolutionarily predisposed to scan for what needs to be fixed or improved. Don't feel bad for being hardwired with a negativity bias like everyone else. Instead, when you're feeling that things could be better, stop and appreciate what is good.
