We know that “busyness” increases our stress levels and should be avoided. There is another, deeper problem with chronic busyness, though.
Busyness keeps us from sensing the truth of our lives.
When you’re on the go from morning until night, there is no time to notice that which needs to be noticed. There is no space within which we can be aware of what our bodies are trying to tell us. There is little opportunity to deeply connect with the people we love and know what they (and we) need right now.
We need to slow down so we can more skillfully navigate this short time that we have, rather than blindly rush through it and look back wondering where the time went.
